The art in the galleries on this site is some of the art that I am blessed to be part of creating. I did share The Green Bough sanctuary/studio with Joy Olsen, an imaginative sculptural ceramist whose nature and sea related work is uplifting and healing. Sadly she made her transition in August 2019. I continue a link to her site to honour her and her beautiful work.
Two years of study at Emily Carr College of Art and Design in the 80’s fostered her already intuitive process and fuelled her multiple art practices. She prefers sculpting directly with hand tools in stone or hands in clay vs using power tools.
Joy Olsen (May 7, 1951 - August 9, 2019):
Joy sadly left our world after a long, valiant resistance to a devastating cancer. I will leave her words and images here as she presented them. She was a bright and shining star and is so missed. Soar Joy SOAR…
Living and working on Gabriola Island, my hand built ceramic art is infused with a love of nature and intention to bring notice to its beauty and fragility. Inspired by the shoreline creatures and sandstone formations, their essence is embodied in my porcelain, sculptural work.
